mr. nap’s fight

mr. nap
brothas’n’sistas neva givin’you dap
you rose from the scalp
of our black gene pool
but since you ain’t stringy
you ain’t too cool
so the first man yanks
you wit’ afro picks
the first woman cooks ya clean straight
wit hotcomb tricks
so you can be
manageable…
at least fo’ a day
but mr. naps guess what?
you comes back anyway
so to combat on
you some more
folks chemically bombard
wit’ conks galore
get a perm every fourta six weeks
but
mr naps you still bulge and peek
through the mop of devilish
straight hairs
looks like they
got Us in lasso snares
jherrie
curls greased in every way
now
you're glazed wit’ lubricatin’
spray
blonded, bleached and dyed
at your roots
you still carry on
against the spending
of much loot
wigs wit’ metal clipped
twigs snapped on
finger waves
sculpted into gaudy glitter cones
asiatic bobs slipped on
afrocentric knobs
horsetails
bring up a debate
should it be
stapled or glued at a snails rate
all done to keep you down
but mr. nap you still hang around
making appearances in
fros, shags,and dreads
keeping a
strong presence
on the face of
the black head
